VION and CTH enter into joint venture
VION concern, Sonac, is to enter into a joint venture partnership with Combinatie Teijsen van den Hengel (CTH). This Dutch-based company is responsible for the processing and sale of natural sausage casings and slaughterhouse by-products. Sonac is part of the Ingredients division of VION and is likewise active in this market. The joint venture brings about economy-of-scale benefits for both companies and improved opportunities for serving the marketplace with value-added products. Both companies will continue to operate under their own name. The joint venture plan has been submitted to the Dutch competition authorities. It is expected that the partnership will commence in October 2007.

CTH is an international business specialising in the collection, processing and refinement of slaughterhouse by-products and natural casings. The company has production sites in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and China. The head office is in Almere, the Netherlands. CTH employs a workforce of 500.
